Bookbird, Inc., the management board of IBBY’s journal, Bookbird: a Journal of International Children’s Literature, seeks an editor or editorial team to take over from the current editors whose term of office finishes with the publication of the October 2022 issue. Abstracts should be sent before 01 October 2021.
Die Deutsche Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur schreibt mit dem Börsenblatt und der Frankfurter Buchmesse den Illustrationsnachwuchspreis Serafina für das Jahr 2024 aus. Er soll Ansporn und Ermutigung sein – viele der nominierten Talente haben inzwischen im Jugendbuchmarkt Fuß gefasst. Der von der Mediengruppe Pressedruck in Augsburg gestiftete Preis ist mit 2.500 Euro dotiert. Die Giraffenfigur der Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg wird von Akademiemitgliedern finanziert, die Akademie Faber-Castell stellt einen „perfekten“ Bleistift zur Verfügung. Bewerbungen sind bis zum 3. Juni 2024 von einem Verlag einzureichen oder werden von der Jury angefordert.

Die Deutsche Akademie für Kinder- und Jugendliteratur schreibt mit dem Börsenblatt und der Frankfurter Buchmesse für das Jahr 2020 die Serafina – Nachwuchspreis für Illustration aus. Der von der Mediengruppe Pressedruck in Augsburg und der Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg (Porzellangiraffe "Serafina") gestiftete Preis ist mit 2.500 Euro dotiert. Bewerbungen sollten bis zum 31. August 2020 ausschließlich von einem Verlag eingereicht oder von der Jury angefordert werden.
Zugelassen sind junge Künstlerinnen und Künstler, die bisher nicht mehr als drei Bücher veröffentlicht haben. Noch unveröffentlichte Manuskripte werden nicht angenommen. Das eingereichte Buch oder die eingereichten Druckfahnen müssen zwischen dem 1. September 2019 und dem 31. August 2020 erschienen sein bzw. erscheinen.

Die Typhlo & Tactus Gemeinschaft ist eine europäische Vereinigung, die sich seit 1999 für eine höhere Quantität und Qualität von Taktil illustrierten Büchern einsetzt. Diese Bücher sind mit dem Tastsinn erfahrbar und damit für alle Kinder zugänglich. In diesem Jahr findet erneut der internationale Wettbewerb für Taktik illustrierte Bücher statt. Beiträge können bis zum 15. August 2021 eingereicht werden.
Ab sofort können sich junge Medienmacherinnen und -macher bis 25 Jahre wieder am Deutschen Multimediapreis mb21 beteiligen. Zugelassen sind digitale, netzbasierte und interaktive Projekte, die mit Geldpreisen im Gesamtwert von 11.000 Euro prämiert werden – im offenen Wettbewerb, oder zum Jahresthema What the fake?!. Einsendeschluss ist der 09. August 2021.
The journal Strenæ. Research on Children’s Books and Cultural Objects is planning the upcoming issue on the topic of "Self-Translation in Children's and Young Adult Books". Abracts can be submitted until December 1, 2025.

The International Youth Library's fellowship programme is one of the rare international research initiatives in the field of children's and young adult literature worldwide and has been running for more than 60 years. Every year, around 15 scholars from Europe and beyond visit the International Youth Library to use the library's large collection of international children's and youth literature for their research projects. Call for application deadline this year is 30 September 2025.
The programme is funded by the Bavarian Ministry for Science and Arts since 2025.

Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures is a scholar-led, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, bilingual academic journal housed at the University of Winnipeg. The mandate of the journal is to publish research on and to provide a forum for discussion about cultural productions for, by, and about young people. The journal is currently looking for editors. Applicants should be sent befor 15. May 2020.
The journal is currently looking for editors who work in one or more of the following areas:
Duties and responsibilities include finding peer reviewers, assessing peer-review reports, preparing reports for the managing board, and substantive editing of accepted articles. At Jeunesse, substantive editing includes detailed assessment of the logic of the argument and comments on stylistic felicity.
While the positions are unpaid, there are considerable benefits to working as an editor of Jeunesse: editors help to shape the field of studies in young people's texts and cultures internationally and to mentor emerging scholars, and will be offered the opportunity to participate in planning future directions of the journal. In addition, editors are entitled to request reference letters to aid in promotion and tenure from the lead Editor. For the most part, editors will work remotely, via e-mail. All editors will receive a free subscription to the journal.
Applicants should provide a statement of interest that outlines why they would like be an editor of Jeunesse, as well as an account of previous editing experience (if any) and a short curriculum vitae that showcases other relevant scholarly activities. Statements should clearly indicate that applicants are familiar with the journal.
